Growing the Roots to Weather the Storm is a creative collaboration compiled and published by Rising Tide North America bringing together analysis, critiques, arts and ideas about the global movement for climate justice.
In the lead up to the People’s Climate March we circulated a call for submissions for ‘Reflections on the People’s Climate March,’ inviting activists and organizers to share their thoughts on the mobilization. That collection brought together more than a dozen articles, poems and illustrations with reflections on the People’s Climate March, the Flood Wall Street actions, and the moment for climate justice. Because of the overwhelmingly positive reaction we received to the initial call for submissions we continued accepting submissions even after the People’s Climate March bringing reflections on the mobilization and after action commentary into the discussion.
In the lead up to the Conference of the Parties (COP20) in Lima, Peru we circulated a second call for submissions–“From New York to Lima, Local Resistance and Global Struggle for Climate Justice’ inviting commentary on the UN climate negotiations, real alternatives to neoliberalism and the climate crisis and discussion on what powerful local and global resistance to carbon emissions might look like.
